Nelson Propane Wants To Help Protect Your Wallet from High Energy Bill this Summer
They say everything is bigger in Texas…
Unfortunately, that applies to your energy bill as well…
Texas summers are one of the hottest amongst all states. Roasting 100-degree days are not uncommon, which means North Texas households need to brace for upcoming skyrocketing energy bills this summer. Scorching heat means more energy and more money.
“According to the US Department of Energy, a typical US household spends at least $2,200 per year on energy bills” 1
So, is there an easy way to save energy and save money? Many households hire professionals to perform home energy audit and evaluate what measures need to be taken to make one’s home more energy efficient. However, sometimes it is enough to adopt a few simple energy-saving steps to see a big difference in your energy bill.
Here are few energy-saving tips you may want to use this summer:
Caulking. As easy as that, spending a little time (on average 1 – 2 hours) sealing leaks in windows, doors and wall joints can save you anywhere from 5% to 30% per year in energy costs.2 You can detect air leaks by conducting a visual inspection and inspecting all areas where two building materials meet.
Water Heater. US Department of Energy recommends lowering water heater thermostat to 1200F. This is an optimal temperature not only to slow the mineral buildup and corrosion but also save energy and lower your bill. Lowering water heater temperature can result in approximately 4% to 22% of energy savings.3
Dishwasher. Run your dishwasher at night to avoid heat buildup during already hot summer days. Do not rinse dishes before loading and run only full loads. In addition, consider air drying dishes instead of using dishwasher’s drying cycle.
Switch to Propane Gas. Last but not least, consider using Nelsons Propane Gas to power up appliances (stoves to clothes dryers), pool heaters, outdoor lights and more. Propane Gas is much more energy efficient than electricity or natural gas. For example, by switching to a propane gas powered water heater you might save up to “60% in operating costs”.4
In addition, propane gas is very safe (non-toxic and environment-friendly) and does not require much maintenance.
